This experimental short film represented a departure for me as it was lead completely by sound design. The soundtrack was synthesized entirely in Adobe Audition with various tracks overlaid to create a foreboding atmosphere and ultimately lead into a crescendo at the climax.
For the sake of this assignment, we had to choose an open-ended prompt to relate our pieces to; I chose “the life of a sponge.” I took this idea literally by filming the accompanying footage as if it were from the perspective of a living sponge. The footage also mirrors the tumultuous nature of increasingly frantic noises that are building the background, even being corrupted by the end. Additional video effects showed the footage either sped up or reversed to show a different stage of distress.
